DEZ FAFARA: Every COAL CHAMBER Show Might Be Our Last

COAL CHAMBER frontman Dez Fafara recently spoke to Cleveland's Music's Bottom Line about the April 17th incident in Lubbock, Texas where Fafara got into an onstage dispute with guitarist Miguel "Meegs" Rascon, with Meegs reportedly hitting Dez with his guitar, kicking speakers off the stage and spitting on the singer at various points during the group's performance on the Jagermeister tour.

When asked about the circumstances that led to the argument, Dez stated that the fight was caused by "massive turmoil in the band from the very beginning! It's not concept of a band like you'd think, okay? So let me just say that. Many different individuals, and [Meegs] and I — WAY opposite ends of the spectrum! We get together because the music we make out of the way we feel together comes out incredible, I think. Umm, sometimes those personalities clash And they did. And they clashed in Lubbock and they clashed on stage. I don't regret for a minute having to come off stage, because I had to basically get the unit home so we could all talk about what we wanted to do in the future, and if we wanted to it in the future. And you know, those talks went well, obviously there's a tour coming out of it. The thing with us is we're a real rock band. We don't hold anything back from our fans. And, these other bands, they probably shouldn't hide anything either—fans find out everything. So, it's best to just say, 'Hey we're different people, we live at opposite ends of the spectrum.' F*ck yeah, we fight, just like any family. We threw down. Here we come again a different tour you know. Things are volatile, things are unpredictable. Come see a COAL CHAMBER show because it may always be the last one. And I've been saying that for years, you know? And I may be saying it for another ten years."

MBL: Have you put it all behind you, or is there still some animosity?
DF: "I mean, there's constant, constant feelings in the air when we're in a room together and it's thick! That's all I gotta say. But we like to work together in COAL CHAMBER, and that's what we're doing, working together in COAL CHAMBER right now."
